Chris Holcomb

I have the scientific experience to prepare permit applications and the empathy to make your permitting experience go as smoothly and inexpensively as possible. I have worked as a wildlife biologist and wetland specialist in Washington and Hawaii for a total of six years.  Most recently, I worked as a salmonid stream surveyor for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

I earned a Master’s of Environmental Studies degree from Evergreen State and a certificate in Wetland Science and Management from the UW Extension program.  My master’s thesis analyzed how the population size of Red Legged Frogs within wetlands was affected by surrounding land covers. I have also completed several Department of Ecology workshops on such topics as ordinary high water mark determination, wetland rating and wetland mitigation.  While attending school, I worked as a carpenter and therefore understand the perspective of someone  navigating the permitting process.

Wetlands Delineation Project Work

While working in Issaquah for Concept Engineering, I conducted wetland delineations, wetland assessments, wetland mitigation plans, ordinary high water mark determinations and stream ratings for clients in western King County.  Roughly half of my work was submitted to King County Department Permitting and Environmental Review while the remainder was submitted to other cities in the area.

A Preferred Wetland Consultant

In recognition for submitting accurate work to King County, I am on the King County  Preferred Wetland Consultant list.  I am also experienced with Kittitas County and Thurston County permitting and confident that he can work effectively with any city or county in the Puget Sound region. I understand the differences in codes in all of the areas I have worked and know how to effectively interact with government employees to make the permitting process go as smoothly as possible.
